Welcome to Our New Website
Two years ago, we handed over the keys to our very first guest and then stood in the car park wondering if we had made a terrible mistake.
We were not a hotel. We did not have a front desk, a uniformed team, or years of experience in hospitality. What we had was an apartment by the beach at Mutiara Melaka Beach Resort in Tanjung Kling, Melaka, a few ideas about how we wanted people to feel, and a quiet hope that a family looking for somewhere to stay in Melaka might choose us.
That first family arrived tired from the drive. The children ran straight to the window to look for the sea. The parents asked where they could buy breakfast in the morning. We answered every question, checked in on them the next day, and waited nervously for their review. When it came, it was kind. It was also honest about a small thing we had missed, and we fixed it that same week.
We have been fixing small things, and learning, ever since.
This website is the result of those two years. It is not a grand announcement. It is more like opening the door a little wider so you can see who we actually are before you decide to stay with us. So welcome. Come in. Let me tell you what we have learned, who we are grateful to, and what we hope this place becomes.

Two Years by the Beach
When we started, we thought our job was to rent out an apartment. We were wrong, and the guests taught us that quickly.
Over these two years we have welcomed hundreds of people, from all over Malaysia and from overseas. Families driving down from Kuala Lumpur for a weekend. Travellers crossing over from Singapore for a few nights away. Groups from Johor gathering for a reunion. Overseas Malaysians coming home to show their children the country they grew up in. Friends splitting the cost of a trip and staying up far too late talking on the balcony.
We have watched a grandmother sit with her grandchildren by the water while three generations of the same family shared one long, slow afternoon. We have hosted birthday celebrations where the cake arrived slightly melted from the heat and nobody minded at all. We have seen parents who clearly had not stopped in months finally sit down, breathe out, and do nothing for a whole day. We have quietly cleared away the confetti after a small wedding gathering and felt lucky to have been part of it, even from the sidelines.
None of these are things you can advertise. You cannot promise someone a moment like that. You can only try to create the conditions for it, get out of the way, and hope.
What surprised us most was how much the ordinary weekends mattered. Not every stay is a celebration. Many are just a family that needed to get out of the city, or a couple who wanted to hear the sea instead of traffic for two nights. Those stays taught us that comfort and calm are not small things. For a lot of people, an ordinary weekend away is the rest they have been waiting months for. We take that seriously.

What Our Guests Have Taught Us
Every review we have ever received has changed something about how we host.
Some of the lessons were practical. A guest mentioned the washing machine was broken, so we replaced it. Someone wished there had been clearer directions for the last part of the drive, so we rewrote them. A family with a toddler pointed out something we had never thought about because we were not travelling with a toddler ourselves. Each comment was a small window into an experience we could not see from our side.
Other lessons were harder to name. Guests taught us that the moment someone feels welcome often comes before they arrive, in how a message is answered or a question is handled. They taught us that trust is built in the small details, the things people notice without quite noticing them. A clean corner. A quick reply. A host who remembers what they asked for.
We learned that people are generous when you are honest with them. When we made a mistake, and we did make mistakes, the guests who pointed it out kindly were doing us a favour. They were helping us become better hosts for the family who would come after them. We are still grateful for every one of those honest notes.
Most of all, our guests taught us that this was never really about the apartment. It was about the people inside it, and the reasons they came.
Thank You
So, before I say anything else about this website, I want to say what matters most.
Thank you.
Thank you to every single guest who has stayed with us over these two years. Thank you for choosing a small, family-run homestay when there were plenty of larger, easier options. Thank you for trusting us with your holidays, your reunions, your birthdays, and your ordinary weekends that turned out to matter more than you expected.
And a particular thank you to those of you who took the time to leave a review. I understand how it is. You get home, the bags need unpacking, real life starts again, and writing a few paragraphs about where you stayed is the easiest thing in the world to skip. When you did it anyway, you gave us something valuable.
A review is more than a rating. For a small business like ours, it is the way a stranger decides whether to trust us. A family in Singapore deciding where to stay in Melaka cannot see our home in person. They cannot meet us. What they can do is read the family's honest words from the week before. Every thoughtful review you left has helped future guests feel safe choosing us and has helped us keep improving. You built this, more than we did.

About Becoming a Superhost
I want to be careful about how I say this, because it matters to us.
We are proud to be Airbnb Superhosts. But that status did not arrive overnight, and it is not really ours alone.
Superhost is not a prize you buy or a title you claim. It is earned slowly, over many stays, through consistent hosting, careful attention, quick and honest communication, and the reviews of guests who felt looked after. In other words, it is a reflection of two years of small efforts, and of every guest who took the time to share their experience. We did the work, but you made it possible. We hold onto the recognition lightly and gratefully, and we treat it as a standard to keep meeting rather than a badge to rest on.

Why We Built Twynstar.com
Here is a fair question. If we are already on Airbnb and on Booking.com, and if we genuinely prefer that guests book through those trusted platforms, then why build a website at all?
The honest answer is that a listing can only hold so much.
A listing tells you the number of bedrooms, the price, and the house rules. It shows you photographs and a map. It does its job well, and we are glad to be on platforms that protect guests and make booking simple and secure. We are not replacing them. We will keep pointing guests to Airbnb and Booking.com because that is where you are protected, and because a smooth, transparent booking matters more to us than a direct one.
But a listing cannot tell you who we are. It cannot explain why we do this, or what we have learned, or what it actually feels like to spend a weekend here. It cannot walk you through Tanjung Kling or tell you where we send our guests for the best nearby breakfast. It cannot share a story.
That is what this website is for.
Twynstar.com is a place to slow down and learn more about us before you ever send a booking request. Here you can explore the property properly, understand what to expect, and get a real sense of the people you would be staying with. Over time it will also become a place to discover Melaka itself, through travel guides and local recommendations written by people who actually live and host here, not copied from a generic tourist page. It is a place where you can find honest answers to the questions guests ask us most, and where you can stay connected to what we are doing as we keep improving.
Think of the listings as where you book, and of this website as where you first get to know us. A place for stories, not just rooms.

Looking Ahead
This is the first article, and I hope it is one of many.
Over the coming months, this blog will grow into something genuinely useful for anyone planning a trip to this part of Melaka. We are not interested in writing filler. Every piece we publish will aim to do at least one honest thing: help you plan your trip, help you trust us before you book, share real local knowledge of Tanjung Kling and Melaka, or simply tell a story worth telling.
Some of what is coming:
Places to eat in Melaka, including the spots near Tanjung Kling that we send our own guests to.
Things to do around Tanjung Kling when you want the beach and a slower pace rather than the crowds of the town centre.
Simple family itineraries for a weekend in Melaka, built for real families with real children and real energy levels.
Beach activities and how to make the most of the water safely, especially with little ones.
Practical travel tips for the drive down, the best times to visit, and what to pack.
Behind-the-scenes stories about running a family homestay, the good days and the harder ones.
Notes on the improvements we are making, so you can see how guest feedback turns into real change.
Seasonal inspiration for school holidays, long weekends, and the quieter months that are often the loveliest time to come.
If there is something you wish we would write about, tell us. This blog will be better if it answers the questions you actually have.
What We Hope This Becomes
When I imagine this website a year from now, I do not picture a catalogue of rooms. I picture a small, honest library about staying in Melaka and about the family who hosts you when you do.
I hope a parent planning a first trip down from Kuala Lumpur finds an itinerary here that saves them an hour of stress. I hope a traveller in Singapore reads a few of these pieces and thinks, I know who these people are now, I trust them. I hope an overseas Malaysian bringing their children home stumbles across a story that reminds them why this coast is worth the journey.
More than anything, I hope that by the time you arrive, you already feel a little bit welcomed. That was always the goal. Not to fill an apartment, but to be a place where people reconnect, where children spend real time with grandparents, where parents finally relax, and where an ordinary weekend by the beach turns into something you remember.
Thank you for being here at the very beginning. There is a lot more to come.
Whenever you are ready, you are welcome to explore our home and see the dates that are open. You will find our beach homestay on Airbnb and on Booking.com, where you can read what past guests have written and book with the protection those platforms provide. No rush. When the time is right, we would love to host you.
